To support the education of the mind, body, and creative spirit, WGE students receive regular instruction in technology, Spanish, music, art, and physical education in addition to core reading and math instruction. Monthly visits from Glacier National Park Rangers also provide students with opportunities to learn about local history, landscapes, plants, and wildlife.
WGE students participate in a variety of enriching activities throughout the year, which may include weekly 1.5-mile walks, cross-country skiing, swimming lessons, ski/snowboard lessons, an annual bicycle ride to Lake McDonald, and a Missoula Children’s Theatre performance each year. Additional field trips and special events are scheduled as opportunities arise. Please refer to the Student/Parent Handbook for examples of annual activities and programs.
In addition, Montana’s Indian Education for All (IEFA) initiative helps ensure that all students learn about the distinct and unique heritage of American Indians in a culturally responsive manner. State funding supports WGE students in participating in learning experiences such as field trips, cultural activities, and place-based educational opportunities. Learn more about IEFA through the Montana Office of Public Instruction.
